Lions, Cubs and Elephants Galore
A beautiful day in the Masai Mara today. We checked in on lioness Siena whose wound seems to be healing well. Her cubs are getting cheeky and playful and it was a delight to watch families of elephant feeding in the Marsh and traversing the grasslands. Photos are courtesy of Patrick Reynolds Governors Il Moran Camp Manager.

Re: Goveners Camp Masai Mara
Thanks Doogs that's brilliant news that Siena seems to be doing so well now, after that really nasty wound, sounds as though the treatment has worked, and also good news for her cubs who are really coming on now. Don't you just love pics of little Elles following their Mums

Siena & Cubs Rescued by the Pride & Plenty of Wildebeest & Zebra
There were lovely scenes yesterday in the Masai Mara as the Marsh Pride of lions came across a herd of buffalo, Red and the other sub adults distracted the buffalo and tried to hold their attention to give Siena and her cubs time to move away to safety. Red is an amazing sub adult male, he shows real affection for Siena's cubs and is taking on the role of protector with this clever tactic of distracting the buffalo. There are lots of wildebeest and zebra on the plains at the moment with the Loita migration back in the reserve. Photos are courtesy of Patrick Reynolds, Governors Il Moran Camp manager.

Elephants, zebras and wildebeest galore
There are thousands of zebras and wildebeest across the plains close to our camps, they cross the Mara River and move in and out of the reserve, these are the wildebeest and zebra from the Loita migration. We have also had lovely sightings of the elephant family with the two youngsters. Photos are courtesy of Patrick Reynolds manager of Il Moran Camp and Moses Manduku, Governors Camp Head Guide.

Here is a collection of wonderful safari photos sent to us by Samantha Treasure-Valantine who came on safari with us in February this year. Samantha writes on her website "In February 2014, I was lucky enough to visit the Masai Mara in Kenya. After arriving on a tiny 12 seater aeroplane into the wilderness, I had no idea what I was about to experience. Khaki clothing & explorer hat at the ready, I realised just how ignorant we are to the other creatures in our world. I was stunned at the beauty and the majesty of these animals; each and every movement so perfect and gentle." Go checkout her website for some lovely safari photos. Many thanks to Samantha for sharing these with us.

Loita migration back in the Mara, lions jackals & a bat eared fox
With rain finally arriving in the Masai Mara thousands of wildebeest from the Loita migration have been moving about through the reserve grazing in huge numbers and keeping the Marsh Pride of lions well fed. We have also had lovely sightings of Silver-backed Jackals and Bat Eared Foxes out on the plains. Photos are courtesy of Patrick Reynolds, Governors Il Moran Camp manager.

Meet Tatu
Meet Tatu, sub adult male from the Marsh Pride of lions. Lions are identified by their whisker spot patterns and the word Tatu means "three" in swahili. Tatu has 3 whisker spots on his top right lip hence the name Tatu! If you would like to follow regular updates on Tatu and the Marsh Pride of lions we have a dedicated Marsh Pride Facebook page called The Marsh Pride of Lions or better still why not come on safari with us to the Masai Mara to see Tatu and the rest of the Marsh Pride of lions. Photos are courtesy of Patrick Reynolds, Governors Il Moran Camp Manager.

Drama in the Marsh with a Martial Eagle
There were amazing scenes on Sunday on a game drive between Governors Camp and the Musiara Marsh. A Martial Eagle swopped down on a Grants Gazelle fawn hiding in the grass. The mother of the fawn charged the Martial Eagle and chased it off the fawn, the eagle taking off into the sky, the fawn got up and lived to see another day. Photos are courtesy of John Lyall, guest at Governors Il Moran Camp, many thanks to John for sharing these with us. #whyilovekenya

Hanging out with the Marsh Pride
These photos were taken yesterday and show Scar and Lippy with the four cubs at the lake on the East side of the Marsh. Scar is very good with young cubs particularly Jicho's little cub, when male lion accept cubs in this manner or will allow them to eat with him it is a sign of altruism. Lippy, Kini and Jicho were at the Calvert this morning where they had just killed a topi. Photos are courtesy of Governors Il Moran Camp guest Andy Wigg. Many thanks to Andy for sharing these with us.

Bibi, Kabibi, Moja, & Zebras on their way into camp
The Governors Guides have named Marsh Pride Lioness Bibi's daughter Kabibi, this means daughter of Bibi and is a name that connects her to her mother, this came after suggestions from a client that this lioness is well loved and needs a name. We also have lovely sightings of Moja, buffalo, wildebeest and zebra on their way into camp. Photos are courtesy of Moses Manduku Governors Camp Head Guide and Patrick Reynolds Governors Il Moran Camp Manager.

Great photos of Scar Lippy, Kini and Jicho . brilliant that Scar is such a good dad, unusual for a Male to share the eating with the cubs.
That's a shame for Musiara , its a pain when you cant eat your breakfast in peace. Love the shots of Bibi, Kabibi, and Moja what a good name Kabibi meani8ng daughter of Bibi. loads of great photos in that last update what a mass of Wildies, lesson number one don't leave your stuff on the airstrip when the lions are around
