Re: Job Hunting
Nice bike PPH - hoping you don't get wet and it doesn't end up all splattered with mud

Re: Job Hunting
the weather was nice enough today for me to go for a little ride. There is a nice big park/nature reserve which is sandwiched between the canal and river which has a short and long paths around it. So I did one circuit of the long path then went the long way around home. It took me about 30 mins and arrived home nicely tired, I have to pop over to my new company tomorrow to drop off some paperwork so it'll be nice to time how long it takes me to get there

Re: Job Hunting
had a lovely ride to the company today to drop off some paperwork that needed to be there today but had got delayed in the post, so perfect way of testing the route there
The trip took me 20 mins and that was 3/4 riding and 1/4 walking, and it was a really nice ride. Will definitely be using that route when I am more confident in riding

That sounds ideal PPH. 20 minutes is a good commute to work. Hoping you get a good weekend with lots of so you can practice a bit.

Re: Job Hunting
I've timed the walk there and it takes me 30mins so for the first few weeks I will walk to work and then once I'm confident with the route I will try cycling

Re: Job Hunting
Glad you had a good trip on your bike PPH and pleased you've got your route sorted. Fingers crossed the weather stays nice for your walks to work and have you got wet weather gear for when you start riding?

Re: Job Hunting
thanks for all the good luck messages
Today went really well. The people I work with are all very nice and even though I didnt do much today apart from get all my logins and accounts set up I think I will enjoy the job
The walk wasnt as bad as I thought it was going to be because its all along the town roads and better still I've found out that there is a bus which will take me from the town centre to within a 10mins walk of the place where I work at the right time. Its also there around the time where I'll be walking home. So if its pouring with rain I can always take the bus home

Re: Job Hunting
Sounds as though everything is falling into place nicely for you. New Bike for when you fel confident to ride it there, a walk thats not too long for you and a bus if it pours with rain, sounds like your getting to and fro work is all sorted PPH.
Pleased to hear that you think you will like the job and that your workmates ar nice, thats always a bonus isn't it and joining just before Christmas is always a good thing as everyone is always cheerful and there is usually lots going on to join in, so you will get to know them quickly.
Hope the rest of the week is as good as today for you.

So pleased you had a good first day PPH, and brilliant that you've found a bus to take you when the weathers bad and you don't want to use your bike.

Re: Job Hunting
day two was a bit better and I actually managed to get some work done.
I am very tired from work but I suppose as I haven't really worked full time for nearly 6 months then my body needs to get used to it. I may be a bit quiet on here for a week or so while I try and not fall asleep after I get home

Re: Job Hunting
end of a great first week, still getting used to the new job but the people I work with are fab and get my slightly sarcastic weird sense of humour. Its a very chilled out office and I'm getting used to work and systems, just need to get used to the tech/medical jargon. I've decided that when I'm logging a fault I am just typing word for word what they say and hope it makes sense to someone!!!!
My knee is hurting a little bit from all the walking but I'm going to bike it a few days next week weather permitting and hopefully the dark mornings and evenings won't be to bad

Hope you knee recovers over the weekend with a bit of rest. Have a good weekend.

Re: Job Hunting
to be honest LW the medical jargon isn't too bad as my dad is a paramedic and my mum is a nurse so I have a little bit of knowledge of medical words. The technical side on the other hand is a different thing

Re: Job Hunting
I'm sure you will crack the technical side PPH, you seem a pretty smart cookie to me and if your ok with the medical jargon, your half way there already
