Re: Job Hunting
things are going great at the RSPB, they are a lovely bunch of people and we had the BBC there the yesterday (wednesday) doing an interview with the public affairs guy over a report in a local town about Red Kites 'attacking' children and stealing their food (link below)
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-oxfordshire-13614326
another over reaction because people have been feeding Red Kites they have come to associate people with food and are doing what they do naturally. The interview has been shown on the BBC news channel and what was quite funny is that we had a dressing up day to say thank you for all the work we have been doing and the guy who was being interviewed had to get changed as he was dressed as a Hobbit as the theme for the dress up day was Movies

Re: Job Hunting
I saw that on the news this morning, the same thing happens around the Sea side resorts, people feed the Gulls then others complain when they are attcked for food, in some parts of Wales it is against the law to feed Gulls with a fine of up to £5,000. Hope the interview went OK

Re: Job Hunting
the interview went well but I found out today that I didnt get the job, they stressed that they really liked me and had no negative comments but they went with someone who had a little more experience than I did.
I'm not upset about it as anything it gave me more interview experience and it gives me more time to volunteer at the RSPB

Re: Job Hunting
Thats a shame PPH, but at least you got positive feed back which is good, and Employer will usualy go for someone with more experience, and as you say it's more interview experience, plus you get to spend more time with your friends from the RSPB

Re: Job Hunting
Really sorry to hear that PPH - but as you say it was good interview experience, and gives you more time with the RSPB.
Fingers crossed something that you really want comes up soon.

I was always told PPH that every thing happens for a reason. You were not meant to get that job, cause the one that is right for you is just around the corner.

Re: Job Hunting
I've got another job interview tomorrow working at the local post office. Should be a lot of fun and as no job in the RSPB or any other charity work on the horizon its something I can do until I do find one that I want to do

Re: Job Hunting
Fingers X again for you PPH, at least you'll have that personal contact with people working in the post office unlike in a call centre.Your not just a voice on the end of a line. And if something comes up at the RSPB, I'm sure you'll be at the top of the List

Re: Job Hunting
well had a bit of a surprise today. I got told that there is a job coming up in the team that I work with at the RSPB. its pretty much doing what I am doing now but doing a lot more administration work and would I be interested.
I said I would be but all dependent on hours, pay etc but they couldnt give me the details as it hasnt been signed off by management and its a new position that has been created by a bit of a re organisation of the dept. The job will be advertised in the next few weeks and aim to start in september.
I haven't heard back yet from the post office about when I'll start my job but they did say that checks can take 2 weeks and its only been a week. So I'll still go for the job in the post office as I can't tell them I don't want it and then it turns out that the RSPB job isnt enough money/hours or I don't get it.

Re: Job Hunting
Wise decision PPH. A Bird in the hand is worth two in the Bush if you'll excuse the pun. But it's great that they have thought of you, and shows that your work so far has been appreciated. I hope the details work out alright for you, as we all know it's something you've wanted, and worked for

'Buses - none - all at once' is what springs to mind PPH :o
Agree that you've made the right decisions so far, just have to wait for a bit more info on the RSPB Job before making a committments / decisions.
Delighted for you though and I hope the RSPB turns out to be what you are looking for
