Re: Some Bella Pics
Well I mostly just have loving eyes for Leo; he's a top lad, despite my freak outs at times!
Last night I forced him to be on the floor when he got some hot chips, as what he does when I eat on the couch is instantly sit right by me. The only way to get him to come down is for me to move off the couch, then it's a case of trying hard to get him to sit on the floor before he gets a treat. That went okay last night.
This morning there was scratching at my door at 3am which I ignored, then again at 4:40 which I succomed to! But that's not too bad. They still had 6 hours of the night on their own. Will try for similar again tonight.
Thanks for the Bella compliment RM! And Doogsy, so long as it's not one step forward two steps back

GR sounds like your getting the hang of it, one small step at a time, and hopefully not to many 2 steps back, although that will happen now, and again.

Yep, going better here now, but also because I am being less stressed. I was just getting too worked up about it all really.
And it's Leo's/Wegrah's/Ralph's birthday in just two more sleeps! So I had better not forget that

Re: Some Bella Pics
Today is Leo's birthday!!!
Well not necessarily of course, but I had to pick a day for him, and today seems as good as any.
Even if the rain kinda spoilt our walk. Actually it became more of a run, and was shortened. Fortunately they didn't get too wet; a couple of weeks back they really did get water logged!
I haven't done anything too special for Leo today, although he and Bella did get to come into my room before 4am this morning! So I suppose this was a treat for us all, as we snuggled for almost three hours before getting up.
Leo was given a treat after that, a toy. It is a plush toy thingy that is connected to a ring; a rope ring hoola hoop kinda thing. He was immediately liking it, but then after he moved away from it fifteen minutes later, Bella was straight onto it! As soon as the toy came out she was transfixed by it - as she is with any new toy - and watching Leo from the floor as he sat with it on the couch.
Leo also got a full smacko this morning, but no particular special treatment besides. I still intend on sleeping by myself, though gather again that there will be scratching at more door rather early indeedy
I'm about to eat some sticky date pudding now - nom nom nom - and am watching a little football; oh, who am I kidding; I am not really paying much attention to it

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RALPH
Dont forget to share your with Bella
Great pics GR, dont envy you the cleaning up though
Meant to say before GR. Not getting stressed is really good. Dogs can sense when your stressed, and it makes them stressed to.

Re: Some Bella Pics
Leo says a big for the well wishes guys! I think that he enjoyed himself pretty well yesterday. Funnily enough it is Bella who is struggling more with the night time 'ban'; been recently jumping up at the door regularly. Today I didn't let them in though until about 6:30, though we still didn't get up until about 9!
In fact we've done a lot of snoozing today; I've just felt really tired and had two lengthy segments of snuggling (Leo at one point even had his head burrowed into my neck/chest, very sweet, and shows that he is really comfortable here now). It's so great to have companions like that who want to keep you company; they are definitely my wonder woos
But we will still go for a second walk today soon. It's an important activity for all three of us! Especially with some of my eating habits I think the shops are all closed today because of Good Friday, and my 'mains' for the day might consist of a slice of toast with honey and a small pudding! I have plenty of chocolate to survive off though, and more pasta if I get really desperate
I think I am getting less stressed now with the dogs, or at least less angry. I think for a brief point that I was actually taking a personal offence with the whole Leo and alpha male thing, like it was a reflection on myself that I needed to stand up for myself and be more manly. But I'm okay with that now. Just the re-arranged eating order and night time ban (and more relaxed attitude) seem to be working. And they are appreciating their day time snuggles
Lovely pics Doogsy. And the de-fluffing one wasn't just to emphasise their 'skills', but to highlight my laziness for cleaning up

Re: Some Bella Pics
That's so funny GR with all that fluff and stuff, that's Penny and Tamu too, but I do pick it all up!!!
A belated happy birthday to Leo and it sounds like things are going well with him and Bella now and perhaps he is settling into a routine and learning what is good and what is bad.
Lovely photos, thanks for sharing.

Re: Some Bella Pics
The fluff bag pics were taken about a fortnight ago; I didn't really think they were WAA posting 'worthy', but then I changed my mind
The other recent posts were further pics from Leo's birthday, so yes I did enjoy some sticky date pudding for dessert that night. Actually it was my dinner!

My diet certainly leaves a lot to be desired
There are so many tug of war fights that I can't remember who won that particular battle
Bella (I'm assuming it was her) killed a mouse today

She has killed a few now!
Bella is like a cat in other ways too. Sometimes she will stand up with a paw against a door when on the lookout for something, and she very much reminds me of a merecat. And of course she loves to snuggle on my lap, so she is kinda like a cat-dog

Re: Some Bella Pics
A belated "HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEO" it looks from the pictures as if a good time was had by both Leo & Bella.
Loving all the fluff pictures, isn't it odd how some dogs love to de-fluff and just end up with the body of the toy.
Ahhh GR in his giraffe suit....very fetching and good to see a man not shy about posting a pic of his dog getting a kiss
It's been lovely catching up with the pics and whats been happening, sorry to hear that Leo had been causing you some stress, it's so tough when we want to do the best for them but hard when they have a history that we don't know about but you sound as if you are now taking a more chilled approach but still remaining in charge. I have had Nero for 4 years and yes I am the boss 99% of the time but he still has his moments like i'm sure all dogs do.
Going back to the walking etc, a well behaved dog is great but I do look at all these dogs walking to heel and think, yes, that's great but where is the fun for the dog? Nero is at home all day, he goes in the garden before I go to work, he wont go for a walk early morning, not sure why, anyway, as soon as I get in he goes in the garden and then out for a walk. He walks on an extension lead and 99.9% he is out front doing what spaniels do, sniffing and leaving his scent calling card. He will walk by my side and when we come to a road he will always stop, even if he gets there first, even though I then have the lead so he can't get in the road and he will wait there until I say we can cross. He behaves well and I therefore believe that he should be able to be a dog on his walk and have a good old sniff about, I dont see it as him in charge, its just a spaniel who is well behaved on his walk and having fun after being at home all day. Sometimes it is nice to just let dogs be dogs but yes, not get tripped over by them.
