well I survived my first week at work, I'm glad I only have to work 3 days this week but I managed to sit next to someone behind the counter yesterday and see how the system worked. I am looking forward to the end of the week when I can sit in the sunshine (hopefully) listening to good music and drinking cider

well I'm back, I was actually back yesterday but was so tired that I decided to have an internet free day to recover. Lots of fun and the weather was alright, overcast but only two short rain showers the whole weekend. We had about half an hour of sunshine on the saturday which was enough to give me sunburn as I do have what my partner calls 'celtic skin' which is pale and prone to freckle and burning

Glad you had a good time PPH. You sound like Mrs S, although she does'nt have freckles. When its sunny she sits outside while I sit under the sunshade I dont like sunbathing, but I have the kind of skin that only has to look at the sun, and it goes brown, I always have a year round tan. Mrs S goes pink then she goes red, then goes inside, and goes back to white Job Hunting - Page 5 40683 I get loads of Mad cos I'm so brown all the time

lol WS poor Mrs S, I normally wear factor 50 and a hat as I may not be a red head like my mother but I have inherited a red head's skin type. Even wearing factor 50 I can only stay out for 20mins before I start to burn. I even managed to get some colour on my skin on Friday when it was overcast all day. at the moment I do look a bit Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed but I'm lucky that I don't really like sitting in the sun, partially because of the sunburn but mostly due to the boredom factor. Even if I have a good book to read I find it hard sitting in one place for a long time

I Agree PPH - I don't like sitting in the sun at all, I'm blond and get prickly heat although I do go brown, sun cream makes it even worse, but I don't hang around long enough too as I am itching too much What a Face . I love reading but would be under a tree not out in the sun Laughing

Post  princesspurplehippy Wed Aug 17, 2011 10:23 pm

I have made a brave and may turn out to be a stupid decision. I am going to give in my notice at the post office on friday when I get back after my day off. I am not enjoying the work and I think I'd better admit it now before they spend any money on my training course and travel to and from there at the end of the month. As I am on probation then I only have to give a week notice and as I am off on my hols to York next week then best to do it before. The people are nice but the job is pretty much the same as the job I had before that I got made redundant from.

I know that its not guaranteed that I'll get the job at the RSPB despite the really positive noises coming from them and the job doesnt close until the 29th August and interviews on the 6th September but as I have most of my redundancy left and also wages from the time at the post office I will be fine financially.

Bit scary but I think its for the best

Follow your heart not your head, if you are okay financially for now I think you have made a good decision PPH.

Far better to quit now before the training as you say - fingers crossed for the RSPB job. That would be such good news for you.

There's nothing worse than having to do a Job, your not happy in PPH. I know about that I think I said before I did it once, and its soul destroying, as long as you can afford it, go for it, and the best of luck, fingers X you'll get where you want to

You are financially ok, so what are you waiting for.

Good luck to you PPH, hope it all works out for you, I'm sure it will Wink

Nightmare SM, really feel for you there, soul destroying doing that. Stick in though, the money coming in to pay the bills is far more important and hopefully one day you'll get something that you'll want to get up in the morning to do

Post  princesspurplehippy Thu Aug 18, 2011 5:04 pm

thanks everyone, I popped into the RSPB office yesterday as I had a half day off and wanted to help a bit more. There was a girl who worked there who used to help with the pin badge scheme and I thought that she would be the only person who could beat me to the job. I found out yesterday that she is leaving and going to work for the National Trust. Well my confidence was lifted as my main competition who I know about isnt going to be going for the job. Ive also felt a lot better since making my decision, so all I have to do is let the post office know my decision tomorrow

How did it go today PPH? I imagine it's a relief letting them know. I agree with going with your heart and not your head and I have everything crossed that you get your dream job.
