Re: Job Hunting
The ladies bike sounds lovely PPH. I never had a bike with a basket on the front but like you would love one. The proper ladies bike really does conjour up the image of wonderful summer bike rides in the country. However like you I am only just a tad over 5ft ( a very small smidgen over) so it would be too big for me.
I live in a village and we do have some lovely country lanes but the best one is up quite a steep hill so not for relaxing cycling. Our village is lovely but the main roads round the village are busy dual carriage ways, there is a cycle lane on them but the traffic moves a quite a speed and they are incredibly busy, not sure if my nerves would hold up on a bike ride along them.
If I could fit a ladies bike I could secure Nero in the basket and go for a nice ride along the seafront though, I think he would like the sedate travel rather than the walk nowing Mr Lazy.

Re: Job Hunting
I really like the look of that PPH. Actually one of the ways out of the village is along a dual carriage way but it has a pavement all the way along it as well as the cycle lane and many people cycle along the pavement, i'm now thinking I could do that and cycle all the way to my mums, it would be brilliant exercise and i'm now thinking about it seriously. Thanks for that picture I may just look into it further and see about the size as well because if you can't touch the ground you can always hop down off the bike I suppose.

Re: Job Hunting
I'm sure another bike maker may make one with a smaller frame but its also to do with being able to pedal as if your legs don't reach the bottom pedal when you're sitting on the saddle then its not worth it.
As you are shorter than me and even with a 15 1/2inch frame I still had to have the seat lowered as far as possible for me to be able to put just the balls of the feet on the floor. I'd look for that size, or the smallest frame in adults bikes is a 14inch. My last bike was a 15inch but it was technically a 'childs' frame as apparently adults and childs bike frames tend to cross over @ 14inch frames

Re: Job Hunting
See I get carried away without thinking sometimes, it's obvious you need to be able to peddle as well, not just touch the ground. I will have to have a look around for a small 14" frame as you say but I wonder if you could get a bike like that in a small frame, I will have to do a bit of research on the web PPH but it has really got me fired up to see about getting one so i'm glad you posted about cycling and the link to the bike you like. Thanks a lot.

Re: Job Hunting
no probs
at least someone appreciates my practical 'think before you act' side. My bf sometimes despairs when I bring him down to earth when he is thinking about doing silly things. I do have a silly impulsive side which can override my default setting of sensible sometimes

I do appreciate your sensible side PPH, I needed a reality check there, can't ride a bike if you can't get the peddles to go round

Re: Job Hunting
Just had a call from the recruitment agency, no news yet but he said that some of the managers that need to 'sign it off' are in dubai at the moment so they are waiting for them to come back.
He said that they would be looking at a start date of next week, so does that mean that I have got the job as they actually haven't said so :?: :?: :?:
I'm being optimistic and saying that I have got the job

Re: Job Hunting
Ive just got the phone call and I start on Monday, the managers want me to start asap but the HR team have said they won't be able to get everything sorted in time
This is good as it gives me the time to get things sorted and pick up my new bike tomorrow

Re: Job Hunting
looks very smart and sparkly PPH, wonder if it will still look like that after your ride tomorrow Fingers crossed the weather stays dry for your first real outing on it, also it makes the ride more enjoyable, a ride in the park sounds wonderful, will be thinking of you whilst i'm stuck in the office tomorrow.
