The river is the Feugh,a tributary of the Dee in Aberdeenshire at Banchory. For us it's a trip up over the Cairn o'mount,(the hill shots) and down through the woods to the river the other side.We then swing round to Stonehaven to the sea for a cuppa or some chips then home. That little run takes aboout three hours and you get to see a little bit of Scotland in all it's moods and it's less than hours drive away.

Sadly Macro and Mono have gone over my head but I do love those shots and i'm with you on the Lichen photo TB, I prefer things that are representative rather than perfect. The trees are such wonderful colours at the moment aren't they, to me they are their own little rainbows of colours.
You must be proud of the salmon leaping, on Autumn Watch they comment on how long it can take to get a shot of the salmon leaping without missing them so you must be really chuffed with that photo.
It sounds like a perfect trip out.

This was taken on the Fasque Estate, owned by decendants of William Gladstone and was where Queen Victoria used to come and see Billy Connelly(I mean Mr Brown).
So do you know what's going on with his colour?

Ahhh the River Feugh, I know it well. We passed through Banchory last week when we were coming back from Ballater, there were lots of people on the bridge where you watch the salmon. It is just under 25 miles from my house.
Lovely picture of the salmon jumping TB

We've been out sniffing woods again(don't worry it's not illegal ) and Mandy is trying out the new camera, nicely framed shot I thought.
The whole forest(a forestry commision plantation)smelt of fungii, these bracket fungi are on the upturned roots of a conifer blown down in a storm( I take the close ups and macro shots). Not sure of the species, hence I don't pick mushrooms, only from a farmers market.

I take it you didn't recognise the Melanistic Pheasant then?
Perhaps this one will be easier to recognise?

The Fly it is,biggest one I've ever seen.
This is also a rare view, for a crow they sure are skittish, this was literally in grab a nut and gone(my excuse for the less than perfect focus).

Re: Autumn arrives in Scotland
How many spiders? The whole field was covered, busy little creatures aren't they?
Didn't see this spiders web untill I'd loaded the shot onto the computer, hand held macro again.
The problem I'm having with this new camera is the pictures are so large,I can't post them on here.Even if I try to crop them down, there is so much information in the picture the site rejects them. When I get my new computer I'm hoping the fancy editing suite I have will enable me to sort this problem.Even my printer is struggling with the images shot in raw rather than jpeg, steep learning curve.

Re: Autumn arrives in Scotland
Missed a few previous pics on here TB, loving the Jay and Mandys Woodpecker. The field covered by spiders webs is amazing. I reckon spiders must be one of the busiest creatures on the planet, if their web gets wrecked they immediately re-build it but to cover that field there must have been an army of them.
Hope you get your editing sorted TB cos I for one would hate not to see your photo's.
