Well I've had a bit of a thrill. Simon Chebon who regularly posts on FB about the cats of the Mara posted the photo below of one of the breakaway Marsh females and said that she should be named. She has "a conspicuous blister like growth on her lower lip" so I thought the most famous person with big lips I could think of was Mick Jagger so suggested Jagger - it would now appear that this is what she will now be know as Cool

I must admit I'm a little conflicted about the news. On one hand I'm so happy someone else has confirmed what Jackson was saying all along, but now I just hope The 4 M's don't catch him particularly now that he's alone. That's news I don't need!

Governors Camp Collection Update - From FB 26/03/2012

There has been lots of activity with the new males of the Marsh pride lately at Bila Shaka and on the Musiara plains. Scar, Sikio, Hunter and Morani were all mating with the Marsh females and later with Scar and Sikio fighting. Joy has not been seen for some time but we are on the look out for her. White Eye has been seen in an area just outside of the Reserve and she looked very heavy so we will keep an eye on her and report back on any findings.

I presume by 'heavy' they mean pregnant ???

Thats what I assumed too Doogs, I'm so worried for her being outside the reserve though Sad

knowing the fate of Red, Lispy, Clawed. Why would she have moved away from the pride? I hope they find Joy soon, although she's a wonder Mum so I bet she's doing just fine Very Happy

Mixed feelings on Romeo bless him. I would love for him to still be alive, but what's his fate now? What if the 4M's find him? What is he takes Clawed's route? So much worry!

Good info Doogs, thanks for posting. I've been poking around FB and it seems the prevailing thoughts are the lion seen the other day is probably not Romeo. Too many things aren't adding up. I guess we ought to know that except for a certain few you recognize right away, it is quite challenging to ID a big cat. I'm sure the debate will go on until it's definite one way or the other, but for now we may have another mystery cat in the Mara.

Ronnie - it's bad enough ID'ing the leopards & cheetah (and they've got distinguishing stops that should help us) - never mind the lions !!! It's all very scratch
