Re: Marsh Pride Updates
It appears the female with the cubs was not from the Marsh Pride at all !!! Update and attached picture from Governors Camp Collection, Facebook :-
"This female with the four cubs is a young female of about three years old, she is presumed part of the Paradise pride and some guides here think that perhaps she was one of the old Marsh pride females that moved out when Claude and Romeo came in. Very sadly yesterday some guides saw her minus the cubs and she was with one of the males that is part of the Notch group!! These four male brothers are large males all have big heads just like their father one is pictured here, there were no cubs to be seen. But the grass is long at present so seeing the cubs could be tricky or the worst has happened".
I hope the little ones are ok

Governors Camp Collection
The Paradise Pride of lions had a busy day yesterday, 4 adult females & 2 young cubs were seen feeding on a hippo kill near the wildebeest crossing point. Notch and his 3 sons were seen across the mara river wanting to cross but they seemed very wary of all the crocodiles that were around, later we found the males on the kill too so they must have found a way to get across unharmed.

Thanks for the update Doogs - good to know Notch and his boys are okay.
Jonathan's going back to the Mara on Saturday, so hopefully that will mean more updates.

Re: Marsh Pride Updates
Thanks for keeping us up to date Doogs and I am hoping those little cubs are ok and that they are just hard to see at the moment, it would be too sad for anything else to have happened.
Great to know Notch and his boys are ok though

Governors Camp Collection - Monday 16 January 2012
Marsh Pride Update: There has been an amazing development in the Marsh pride today, last night the 4 new males killed a buffalo near the musiara gate, then today White Eye, Bibi, Charm and Clawed all joined them on the kill! Clawed is still looking worse for ware but the 4 males obviously see him as no threat and allowed him to feed with them, later as it got hotter 3 of the males moved off and left Clawed on the kill with one male. Hopefully this meal will help him regain his strength. Another sub adult male and female were waiting a little way off to get their turn.
Very interesting and a wee bit puzzling developments with the Marsh Pride. Great that Clawed is hanging in there (albeit I think he looks awful ) Still wondering where poor Romeo is

Re: Marsh Pride Updates
What a turn up for the books. You could'nt script that. I hope they let him hang around, it will help him regain some strengh. I suppose if their kills are big enough for them all to share, he could be OK. The problem would come if there's a shortage of food.
Thanks for some great news Doogs

Re: Marsh Pride Updates
Oh my word, what an incredible update. Good old Clawed, that is fantastic. Hopefully as he is no threat he will be able to hang around with the pride and get some food. It seems that the Marsh Pride really is one of the most successful prides around.
I think we must really assume now that Romeo is dead, but await news from Jonathan and anyone else in the know.
Thanks for the update Doogs.

Governors Camp Update - Tuesday 17th January 2012
As promised here are some photos from yesterday of Clawed and one of the new mal...es on the buffalo kill. Clawed is suffering from Sarcoptic Mange on his face and head. Whilst unusual it is not unheard of for males to allow an older male who is no longer seen as a threat to feed with them. This meal will give Clawed a much needed boost.

Re: Marsh Pride Updates
Thanks Doogs for the update, at least Clawed is getting some food, but it's a shame about the mange. As Lai says it looks as though Romeo has now gone, but if he has at least he's not suffering

Update from Warren Samuels today via FB:
In the Mara at Governors camp with Jonathan and Angie Scott doing a promo for our next venture together..all very exciting! Zawadi seen today looking stunning with her cub on a rock in the early am light. Marsh looking great, lots of elephants. Weather hot with clear blue skies that contrast so beautifully with the bright green grass of the open plains.

Re: Marsh Pride Updates
3 postings from Warren today (25/01/2012) via FB :-
Filmed the most incredible sunset yesterday. Huge fires to the south of us in Tanzania, throwing up massive massive amounts of smoke into the atmosphere created the perfect filter over a setting sun. It glowed orange and then red before disappearing behind the Siria escarpment. I reckon its at times like this that I reflect on just how lucky i am to be here in the Masaai Mara to experience such magic!
Little leopard cub seen again today at Leopard gorge, on its own without Mum and doing a lot of playing around in amongst the rocks. Filmed a timlapse of super duper sunrise this morning with a balanites tree (shaped like an umbrella) as a silhouette. The trick is always being able to judge exactly where the sun will pop up so that one can start filming it as it reveals itself over the the horizon. Topi plain on the East side of Rhino ridge loooked really good thru my binocs this morning. Animals everywhere and a large male lion walking amongst them, roaring his lungs dry, creating panic and pandomonium amongst the herds.
Filming promo at Governors Camp with Jonathan and Angie Scott, Jackson Looseiya and myself, for a web video series release on the Maasai Maras' specialist Wildlife photographers, documentary cameraman and guides together with the cats that they adore so much. We are going to call it "On Safari with the Big Cat people!" Will let you know more when we know more...... all very exciting indeed!

Wow Great find Doogs! That must be the internet show they were talking about. Already filming it now so hopefully we'll be able to see it soon! The pics are great but nothing beats getting to see them on film.

Wow Doogs, two great bits of news, Clawed feeding with the 4 new males, that is so brilliant but a shame he has mange, that must be so annoying for him but to him I expect it is the least of his worries. Good old Clawed
Great news about the web series, that is so exciting and can't wait to hear more about it
