Hey Guys,

Is Notch definitely the father of at least some of them?

Certainly a few points raised that could hold a conversation for a good few hours !!

Ronnie - One of the main reasons I still use FB - it's great for keeping up to date with what's happening out in the Mara for a number of sources.

Peter - Do you mean in the Marsh Pride ?

I Agree Doogs - FB has lots of up to date info on all the prides - confusing sometimes but great to know.

Sorry, no I mean in Notch's blitzkreig army that are hell bent on conquest. Do we know for sure that Notch is dad? I'm assuming Notch II is a son?

I think the consensus seems to be that some are Notchs sons, and others are close pride Males, but there does'nt seem to be any conclusive proof. It does look as though there may be a split before long, which I think can only be good for the Lion population in general

Marsh Pride Updates - Page 12 768480 Thanks Doogs thats great news, they say the Cubs appear to be about two weeks old, and will try to get some photos. Also in the latest sighting they have seen 4 young Male Cheetahs snoozing together, now that would be a coalition, and good news for the Mara after there being a derth of Cheetah sightings recently

Governors Camp Collection Update fm Facebook 20/02/2012

Bad news I'm afraid . . . . . .

"Sad news to report, one of Siena's tiny cubs was killed today by a Martial Eagle, close to the Marsh. One of our guides and guests saw the whole event unfold. It seems the cubs were in an area close to the Marsh where the eagle has a nest and fell prey. We have not seen the other cub although we did see Siena and Bibi today".

Shame Crying or Very sad Sad

WOW 4 Cheetah Boys, now that would be an amazing sight Cool

These must be Shingo's Boys as they were reported to have stuck together after leaving mum. Here's hoping they stay around the Mara for a while - at least until Lai and I get over there to get some photos of them !!! Very Happy

Thanks WS Wink

That's so sad about the little cub, tragic news, every little cub is so precious. Let's hope the other one is safe.

Governors Camp Collection via FB 22/02/2012

Two of the new male lions were mating with one female yesterday close to the Musiara Park Entrance gate, a hyena got a little close to the amorous threesome and in their emotionally charged state they chased and killed the hyena.

From FB - Masai Mara Wildlife Update

Currently there is a mini migration in the Mara. hundreds of zebra and a few wildebeests have moved into Musiara Marsh to the delight of the Marsh Pride who have been starving, we have been able to see a few hunts this past week

Thats great news for the Lions Doogs, and they do need the food, but not so good for the Zebras, and Wildebeast, but they would be hunted wherever they were

Very true WS. There are tons more zebra & wildebeest in the Mara than there are lions so it's important they make the most of this opportunity. That was one thing I was worried about going in June whether the cats would be thin then from lack of food 'cause the migration possibly won't have started

WS I saw your post earlier on J & A's blog about Cheza, Sala and Junior and thought this would fit best here due to the name of the article but may also fit in the BCD thread. It is the Update posted by Rich on FB.

Thanks Ronnie. This was where I got the info. Doogs posted it in the Wildlife Blogs & Update section. It sometimes gets a bit confusing as some articles can fit in two, or three places, so do'nt worry about it, as long as it gets on the Forum, that's what counts

"We often see this Thomson Gazelle with the wonky horns out on the plains, it doesnt seem to hinder him to much and he has done a good job surviving the resident predators so far" - Bizarre ! Shocked :o
