Copenhagen Zoo sounds like one big happy family CC
No matter how much of an anti-social freak particular creatures are, it's nice to know that they can be bought together for

Re: Amur Leopard
I saw Toomas again last weekend at the zoo. This time he was resting on his deck, looking very handsome.
I heard a rumour that the zoo is looking for a new Amur leopard female for breeding. After all, Stina is already 12 years old, and she and Toomas did not succeed this year. They mated, but after that Stina had some kind of infection - I do not know what happened or did anything happen at all...
But with his looks, I imagine it will not be difficult to seduce some new leopard ladies:
As you may remember, Toomas is Darla's son from her first litter. His sister is Kaia, who is now in Marwell.

By the way, I heard that little Freya has been vaccinated. This means that the Tallinn Zoo is preparing her for the transfer to Yorkshire...

Re: Amur Leopard
CC I didnt realise Stina had got an infection after she and Toomas mated, I presume she is ok? Toomas is one handsome fellow and I am positive he will have no problem courting a lovely lady
Marwell is not majorly far from me and I did go there a few years ago, it sounds as though not only Whipsnade needs visiti g but Marwell too to see Kaia
Thanks for the picture of stunning Toomas

That shot of Toomas is a fantastic CC. He really is a stunning Leopard, and will surely have no trouble it getting a new Girl. Fingers X Stina is Ok after her infection, let us know if you can

Re: Amur Leopard
Stina's infection was nothing serious, and it happened earlier this year. She got over it with antibiotics.
However, some time ago she was checked to make sure that she has no health problems, as she has not become pregnant after 2010 when Cema was born. They found her totally healthy, and probably her high age is the only "problem". Stina is such a beautiful leopard, and I hope she will stay with us for many many years still.

Good to know there is nothing serious going on CC, just the normal age thing but at least she had a check up so they know her general health is good which is great and as you say, hopefully she will stay around for a long time to come.

Re: Amur Leopard
Looks like the autumn emigration has started both in Helsinki and in Tallinn: in Helsinki for the snowies, in Tallinn for the Amur leopards.
Akra has been separated from her mom Darla and her sisters today, and the Tallinn Zoo is preparing her for the transport to Moscow.
I hope that she will not need to wait too long for the departure! The transport is always organized by the receiving zoo, and when it is a Russian one, you never know... There is a lot of bureaucracy, and for example when Hasan moved to Novosibirsk, the process was far too long.

Fingers X the transfer goes smoothly, and quickly. The last thing a Big Cat on the move from its family needs is a long hold up, it must be truamatic enough being seperated with out any additional stress

Re: Amur Leopard
Hi guys!
I have some great news!
Our Amur leopard male Toomas will get a new partner! You would never guess who she is: she is Zane, Stina's daughter who moved to Edinburgh in January 2009!
If you look at this picture, you can see that she is as beautiful as her mother:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10202463828541415&set=o.352975967242&type=1&theater
So Stina is now on retirement, and hopefully she will have comfortable days as the grandmother in the near future.
I am so excited!!!
Happy CC

Re: Amur Leopard
Hanka is Darla’s and Freddy’s daughter from their second litter in 2010. She subsequently moved to Prague Zoo to pair with their male Kirin.
I visited Prague Zoo in September 2013, but unfortunately I failed to see Hanka; I only saw their older female.
Hanka gave birth to three cutest cubs in November 25: two males and one female. One of the males is melanistic.
I think Prague might be worth re-visiting on this year’s summer vacation, or what do you think:
Prague Zoo is very nice; the area is huge and they have an impressive collection of big cats, including clouded leopard, Sumatran tiger, Malayan tiger, Asiatic lion, caracal etc. plus af course the Amur leopards and tigers! And there are amazing stories of how they survived the floods last summer.

Wonderful news CC and thanks for the clip those cubs are incredibly cute The male who is melanistic will be totally gorgeous when he is older.
Oh I definitely think a visit to Prague Zoo should be on the cards for you this summer Great to know they have decent 'cat' enclosures, I hate zoo that have small spaces for their big cats

Lovely clip CC thanks, they are gorgeous Cubs, and the male melanisitic one. Shame you didn't see Hanka on your last visit, but certainly all the more reason to make a summer trip this year, apart from the from the fact that we will get loads of pics

Great news CC, wonder where you'll be going on your day off
Had a look at your link to your photos from Prague Zoo last year, they are lovely. Loads of 'cats' and a wonderful selection of 'cats' - you almost would know they were taken in a zoo. I love No.6 of your Amur Leopards

Re: Amur Leopard
So I visited the zoo as planned, but unfortunately Zane preferred to stay inside.
Toomas was out, and it looked like he was waiting for Zane to come out too. He clearly knows that there is a new girl around...
Stina has moved to one of the snowies' enclosure, I think that is just temporary because the Amur leopards enclosures have been under repair. Here is lovely Stina:
