Re: Camera trap photos
Littlewid. I am totally thrilled, I did get another shot but the badger was so close to the cam it was mostly his b** he was having a good snuffle at the peanuts.
I've just put both cams out on the same tree, one facing the same way and another facing to the right with lots of peanuts and I am really hoping that if I leave it for another couple of nights we might see some more action.
I've another idea for later on
Like on Springwatch with the tree stump. I want to put the cams around/inside with a few different bits of food and see who visits.
I am loving these trail cams

Re: Camera trap photos
I am sure now he knows the peanuts are there he will trun up regularly, just like they do on Mikes cam and they always seem to visit at the same time every night, so I am sure this little Badger will soon become a regular and we will be watching Lai's Badger Cam......Mike could have competition
What a shame he got so close to the cam that it was only his derier that got caught .
Loving the idea of the tree stump and it looks a perfect stump doesn't it and it worked well on SW so no reason why it shouldn't for you too, that is going to be so exciting to see what happens.
I for one an really greatful for all the effort you put in, I know you love doing it but it's still fantastic that you share it all with us, I get really excited when I see a new post on this thread

Littlewid. Part of the fun is sharing what we get to see, even though it may only be little snippets.
I'll give it a couple of days now .....................
Tree stump cam will have to wait a little while.

Brilliant Lai. At last you got the Badger well done, and it was great to see it little clip or not, and I loved seeing the Kingfisher again they really are a lovely Bird. Great idea for the tree stump, cant wait to see how that works out.

Loving these Lai. Though I know it takes time to go through thr footage you must get excited when you get something. Tree stump cam sounds great. I wonder which animals cut through/shelter around the stump. It will be good to see.

Re: Camera trap photos
Also catching up on this thread after a while.
Well done you Lai for getting two out of three of your 'wish list' so far plus of course the added bonus of the and the - brilliant.
You must have the patience of a saint Lai but it's just as well you do 'cause these things don't happen overnight and they take a lot of trial and error to get right. Well done you for your perseverence and enthusiasm
Looking forward to the next installment

Re: Camera trap photos
Thanks Doogs. I am not patient at all but am having to learn to be
Just collected both trail cams this morning and have the vixen on one and the badger on the other, both on the same tree facing different angles. Also had a pheasant and 2 jays. The jays ate most of the food!
Back out with the trail cams and more peanuts later, and maybe the same tree

Brilliant Lai, both the Badger and the Vixen and really good shots of them both too, I bet you were jumping for joy when you saw those on the cams, i'm delighted and they are not even my cams As Doogs says all that perseverance and enthusiasm has really paid off, that was really brilliant to come home to this evening, just fantastic and can't wait for the next viewing

Re: Camera trap photos
Thanks Littlewid. I'm not sure I've put one of the cams in the right place this time so may move it after a couple of days but feel I have to try it!
I just want to get some badger action. Mike (badger cam) said they will get used to the cam and not run away if I keep putting out the peanuts, so that's my plan.

Lai with the latest clips
How fantastic to get the Vixen and the Badger, well done you Good that Mike has said that the Badgers will get used to the camera so before long you should be able to get them for longer in view.
You're doing a grant job Lai, looking forward to the next installment

Re: Camera trap photos
No news at the moment SM - the olympics have taken over so the trail cams are sitting in the house
Sunday I will be putting them out again It's worth it though for when we get to see a badger or a fox

Re: Camera trap photos
Must admit this house is not in Olympic fever. TT was a 'grumpy old man' at the mere sight of an advert sponsoring the olympics let alone watching the event, but I have caught him on occasion watching the rowing, decathlon, marathon ...... and able to give regular medal counts
Anyway really looking forward to the cams going back up!

I though you might have been tempted to strap them to a pole in the Olympic stadium Lai, to get some sneaky shots

Re: Camera trap photos
We've not had much lucky with either of the trail cams recently, no badger or fox or jay or even squirrel or pheasant. A big zero, nothing at all.
So I put them back into our garden. Mostly it was the crows but I did catch Gimpy our lame buzzard out on the grass, he loves worms.
I'm rethinking for tonight, and going to try for the herons.

Re: Camera trap photos
For at least a couple of years Doogs. I have no idea how or what happened but he's fit and well and has no problem soaring around in the thermals, he just looks a little odd when he's out worming.

Re: Camera trap photos
Gimpy is adorable Lai and it's lovely to know he is well and doing all the things a Buzzard should be doing, if walking a little oddly. It was lovely to see him and hopefully we will see more of him.

Re: Camera trap photos
Thanks for the Video Lai, I wondered when I saw Gimpy how he coped catching prey, if he could only use one claw. But he seems to be doing well, and if he's had the problem for a couple of years, he's clearly adapted to it.
