Re: Camera trap photos
Thats a shame Lai, could you get some longer life batteries ? I know there's a big difference between batteries, and the ones they supply with Cameras, are not always the best. Could you position it on one of the two trees the Foxs pass through, they seemed to take the same route on both clips ?.

Re: Camera trap photos
Just looking at batteries on-line now WS and as you saying going to go for much longer life ones, although Pete's just pointed out that each clip being 30 seconds and over 60 clips recorded they were going for quite a time.
We didn't want to get too close to the den which is why we put it on a tree just inside the edge of the copse. I was worried we might disturb them and leave too much human smell around. I think I will try a different angle from the top end ..... sure I'll get there in the end.

Re: Camera trap photos
They were still lovely clips though Lai and we really do appreciate all the effort you are putting into this Wildlife like to keep us on our toes don't they but i'm sure in the end you will get just the right spot and it is fun to keep trying isn't it, it must be like taking a million shots though before you find that perfect picture......but it comes in the end
Loved the clips and it's made me smile today.

well done for the video clips and the photos, they are great, I think you've done really well to get them. Good capture of the and of course the Vixen, she is beautiful.
Great wish list Lai and hopefully with two cameras on the go you will get what you (and we) want

Re: Camera trap photos
Funnily enough I put one out again when we got back and only got a bunny and something in the background at night, fox/cat couldn't be sure???
So yesterday I put it out again in a slightly different place. I'll leave it a couple of days and report back. My Ltl Acorn is temp out of use, Pete's trying to get help from them as to why it's given up working, and it's not the batteries!
I'm on the case ...............

Re: Camera trap photos
Will check the cam tomorrow, I want to give it a couple of days/nights. We came across one of the foxes when we were walking the dogs in the woods last night, it ran off fortunately but Penny was in pursuit!
Sweat peas Benjamin Bunny had a real go at them but we've new ones coming through so no more cunning plans WS - we're watching you

Re: Camera trap photos
Being an impatient person I went to check the cam a bit of a disaster, mostly the trees moving, well it was blowing a gale, and not a fox in sight. But I did get this visitor who was happy to eat the raisins I had put down.
Back out again tomorrow to another place ....

Re: Camera trap photos
that was lovely Lai and actually I think it's quite nice when other animals just happen along, it makes it all more exciting and thats what I love about nature, your after one particular thing and something else happens instead and it's usually a delight, just like this little I bet he couldn't believe his luck

Re: Camera trap photos
WS - he'll be disappointed today, I haven't been able to get out with the cam trap. Tomorrow I am putting it back in the copse in the hope that the cubs may still be around. Problem is the sheep are back in the field and can get into the copse where the fence is down, so not sure if foxes and sheep are best friends!

Re: Camera trap photos
I've a load to go through but the Kingfishers like this branch, I need to move the cam up the tree a bit so I can get the whole branch and see them fishing.

Re: Camera trap photos
you got them mating Lai, how brilliant is that.......i'm sure thats what they were doing ......wasn't it
That is so gorgeous and it reminded me of the two Kingfishers in Spring Watch. It will be lovely if you could capture them fishing. You are spoiling us with your cam trap but I love it

Re: Camera trap photos
They were indeed, i've about 20 clips of the kingfishers, mostly dipping in and out of the river and preening but that was the best.
I can't decide what to do next as I've an idea we've a badger on the move so am tempted to have a go with the cam trap tonight.
Will keep you posted.
Here's another quickie of the Mrs Kingfisher.

Re: Camera trap photos
Pete & I put out the cam trap in the woods last night, so we shall see, but we are hoping the trail wasn't made by the poor badger that was run over on the road.
I think I must be patient and leave it until tomorrow morning

Re: Camera trap photos
Cracking videos of the Kingfishers Lai. Brilliant you got them mating, and the water looks so clear that if she had gone down for a fish you could have seen it. Shame Springwatch was'nt on you might have got it on there.
hope your right about the Badger, and its OK

Re: Camera trap photos
Hopefully that wasn't the little Badger that made the trail Lai, that would be awful but then again any Badger loosing it's life is not a good thing. Fingers X you have a Badger on your cam..........did you put peanuts out
