Re: Thingys In The Sky
If you Guys remember I posted some photos last year of the Cyclist made out of straw on a framework in honour of the Olypics at Snugburys Ice Cream near Nantwich.
This is this years offering from them
The head moves as you approach and it says we will exterminate. Mrs S's Sister took it on her phone, and sent it to us.

Good idea WS, that would be brilliant to see. We don't really go over that way.

Just a casual 1,000 miles per hour!
2014 is nearly upon us, but not sure I can afford flights to space and South America :-)

Re: Thingys In The Sky
I'm sure everyone know's about the total eclipse tomorrow morning but just in case here's some information.
http://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/solar/2015-march-20
Or you can just watch it on the television
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b019h4g8
We're hoping to do both

Re: Thingys In The Sky
Last night we had the lunar eclipse and 'Blood moon' so we got up at 2.30am and were outside taking photos until 3.30am. Well out of my comfort zone taking moon shots but good to have a go
A seriously low ISO so lots of 'noise' but a good experiment and you can see some stars
Shame it's only every 30 years I need to practice!

Re: Thingys In The Sky
Great shots Lia, much better than the ones I got. you can practise again in 2033 the next time it happens . I stayed up but, I have a new camera and haven't got used to it, I think I zoomed way to much for one thing. Have you used Windows 10 to upload your pics I cant get it to upload at all
Re: Thingys In The Sky
Thanks WS - it certainly was challenging wasn't it?
Yes I am all Windows 10 on laptop and office PC. I didn't have a problem which is unusual for me

Re: Thingys In The Sky
Lovely photos Lai and WS. The colour has come out really well Lai and the noise doesn't show. I am not a pixel peeper: I am only interested in the final look. It is interesting to see the eclipse WS as the moon starts to disappear.
I am afraid I decided not to get up even though I was tempted but in the end sleep got the best of me.
I guess you managed to sort out your uploading problems WS. I wouldn't be able to help as I am strictly Apple and haven't the faintest idea how Windows works in whatever incarnation. However I have found that it does become very difficult to upload large files to WAA and cameras are now getting larger and larger sensors with the resultant increase in file size.
Thanks for sharing

Re: Thingys In The Sky
WS and well done for uploading, I think you are right about the file size, I try to keep them small. Great shots of the eclipsing moon, and I am chuckling about you and red and green so maybe you have shown a red moon and you don't know it
It was a tough call Safariman, I love my sleep but decided as it was only every 30 years I should have a go!

Re: Thingys In The Sky
Thanks for the comments Lai. and SM it was the file size I wasn't giving it long enough to upload. I'm usually up till 2 or 3 am in the morning watching the African webcams, and moderating Wildearth chat, so it wasn't to much of a stretch for me to stay up
