Re: Amur Tiger
Thank you Cremecat, thats wonderful. Really us Tweeters should follow each other, then our follower numbers grow and the message gets spread further afield. I plan on tweeting on a regular basis about causes, plights and petitions.
If you want I will give you my name on Twitter.
Thanks Lai and WS for your support and no harm in signing up for twitter WS, you only hve to follow who you want and get people to follow you so the causes you tweet about get picked up. The we can start #tagging

WS, if I have just managed to retweet a tweet you will have no problem at all, you are as Lai says a s . you need to join the community of Tweeters, maybe some of your friends will follow you WS or their children etc, it spreads the word.
I am waiting for my friend to pick me up on Twitter and follow me, she says she will and I know she will......especially as I have just sent her a text to get on with it A friend of her sons is a farmer or his family are and they also love Badgers, so I am wanting him to then pick me up from my friends twitter and follow me and tweet on the badgers as well, also he loves wildlife, so I am hoping he will tweet on the Tigers as well.

On patrol with rangers protecting tigers in Thailand
The fate of some of the most endangered animals on the planet has been discussed by delegates from more than 170 countries at a conference in Thailand.
Tigers are among the most vulnerable because their skins and body parts are prized for their supposed medicinal powers.
As a result the tigers are under constant threat from poachers and their numbers have fallen alarmingly.
BBC Science Editor David Shukman was given special access to a tiger sanctuary in Thailand

Re: Amur Tiger
My latest but hopefully not my last pictures of the Amur Tigers at Helsinki Zoo:
Czar enjoying the sunshine:
Lara up close:
I took these on March 9, 2013, and I was so happy see that they both were still there.

Re: Amur Tiger
So it happened that the above picture of Czar was my last one!!!
Czar left Helsinki Zoo last Wednesday and is now at Tayto Park in Ireland. At the same time also a female Amur Tiger Gara arrived from Aalborg Zoo, Denmark. Gara is non-breeding due to her age. It feels good to know that Czar will not be the only Amur Tiger there; maybe they will become friends.
Lara will move to Krakow Zoo later this spring.

Re: Amur Tiger
Cremect dont you dare stop posting your pictures I for one so look forward to seeing them Those are really wonderful pictures of Czar and Lara and it's lovely to see Czar sunning himself, he looks so relaxed and it's a beautiful way to remember him. I still need to check out the zoo in Ireland, just lately time seems to be running away with me, no excuse but its the truth I do hope that Czar and Gara become friends, it's not very nice to think he would be on his own, so fingers crossed he and Gara get along famously.
At least Lara will be around for a little bit longer so maybe you might be able to get some more pictures of her before she leaves. You can understand why they are moved around but it is also sad as well when you have built up an affection for them.
When I signed for FB I wanted a good name to represent a Tiger as I love them, so I tried Czar, it had gone, I tried Tsaari but that had also gone which really surprised me, Lara had also gone, it wasnt meant to be, hence I went for one of our longest stars on here Phoebehum.
You keep sharing those pics Cremecat
Thanks for the links and info WS, I will catch up with those tomorrow.

Amur tiger crosses from Russia into China
New protected area providing security for cats
April 2013. On March 8 a male tiger crossed the Russia-China border in the area of the "Sredneussuriisky" Wildlife Refuge, which was created in the Russian region of Primorye in 2012 as an ecological corridor to China
Large male following a herd of wild boar
A large male tiger with paw prints 11 cm wide was tracked by wildlife specialists of the Hunting Management Department and border guards; The tiger followed a herd of wild boar which was travelled into the nearly untouched broadleaf forests on the right bank of the Ussuri River (or Wusuli, in Chinese). Slowly moving to the south, the tiger arrived at the bank of the Ussuri River and crossed over from Russia to China.
Important refuge
This once again confirms the significance for the protection of the Amur tiger of the newly established wildlife refuge, created in Primorye in October 2012. WWF Russia has been taking an active part in organization of this protected area since 2009.
