Re: Goveners Camp Masai Mara
Siena and the young lioness with their six cubs are doing well, out of the six there is a runt who is Bibi’s cub and this little girl has a mind of her own and seems to be on her own for much of the time. Modomo and the other two lioness have four cubs between them and this morning they are close to Topi plains, where these cubs are there happens to be a lovely large and relatively untouched Gardenia tree that is flowering. The Four Musketeers are together, Morani is mating with Joy and he has been with her for nearly 5 days. Scar, Hunter and Sikio were nearby. Scar’s eye lid has opened a little again and this could be the cause of a fracas between the males and with Joy coming into estrus. In the Bila shake river bed Charm and her three cubs were seen clearly yesterday evening. She has been feeding off Zebra. On Paradise Plains there is a family of Bat Eared Foxes one male and three females, one of the females has 4 cubs. Black Chested Snake Eagles are being seen frequently, These raptors are rather picturesque with their piercing yellow eyes - courtesy of Patrick Reynolds Il Moran Camp Manager

Re: Goveners Camp Masai Mara
How unusual Doogs never seen that before they look quite relaxed unless they were having one of those face off Cats have where they pretend to look one way, but are actualy watching each other for a move.
Great sequence of Photos of Charm bringing her Cubs to meet the others, it made me giggle looking at some of them, it looked like the Cubs were saying I dont want to go to the party Mum

I love those photo's of Charm moving her cubs Doogs, they are such lovely photo's, a joy to see.
That is such a one off picture of the Leopard and Lion, I wonder if WS is right about the face/stand off or is it a flucky picture and they werent that close to each other? whatever it is it is such an amazing photo.

"These fabulous photos were sent to us courtesy of Ben Johnson. Ben wrote to us saying "thank you for a wonderful three nights earlier in August. Our biggest thanks must go out to our guide, Kantai, it wouldn't have been the same without you. We have been reminiscing about it since we've come back, we can't wait to come again! The best experience had to be witnessing the crossing, but the getting to see the "Big Five" comes a close second even though our views of the rhino and leopard were somewhat brief! We saw an amazing variety of wildlife, including a newborn Thomsons gazelle, a male lion just a metre from our truck, and a close experience with Blossum the elephant when he wandered into camp in the middle of the night. We hope you like some of these photos, we'll see you again soon (hopefully!)."
Thank you Ben we love all these photos, thanks for sharing them with us and Karibu Tena (welcome again) on safari with us!

Bibi was sighted with 3 cubs, we think that she actually gave birth to 3 cubs but lost 1 to a martial eagle. We suspect that she was in the process of moving them and as she can only move one at a time the cub left behind fell prey to a watching martial eagle. At the time the cubs were only 3 weeks old and they find it hard to move in the long grass. By the time our guides reached there the Martial eagle was feeding on the cub. After losing the cub the Martial eagle remained close by monitoring the cubs and Bibi’s movements waiting for another opportunity. It is not uncommon for Martial Eagles to prey on lion cubs. Another young female had 4 cubs down in the culvert in November and she also lost two cubs to we think the same martial eagle, the mother then got into a fight with Siena and another cub died and the mother abandoned the fourth cub, which Bibi then adopted. So Bibi now has 2 of her own cubs and another adopted one which is just a little bigger than hers. Nyota and the young male Moja were seen near the double crossing with one of the 4 km males. Moja is one year old now. On the Topi Plains coming from Rhino Ridge, we bumped into the Four Musketeers, Scar, Hunter Morani and Sikio. We believe that Scar's eye is a lot better and he can see out of it. There is an obvious picture of Sikio flirting with Joy and this will soon be another successful family of cubs, as Joy is such a good mother! A little further on and we saw Siena and Charm with their nine cubs all getting along really well, we actually saw Charm suckle one of her new cubs and Siena's older cub, integrating very well together .
