ALL ABOUT LIONS
The territory of the Marsh Pride of lions lies all around our camps in the Mara and any Governors Safari is sure to encounter this famous lion family. These great photos were sent to us by J-Lein Liese who came on safari with us recently at Governors Camp. J-Lein wrote to us to say "Always love our stay at Governor's! Here are some of my favorite pics". Many thanks to J'Lein for sharing these with us.

SUBPERB SAFARI PHOTOS
These superb safari photos were sent to us by Ina Hillier, who came on safari with us in August 2013. Ina wrote to us to say "We visited Little Governors Camp 8-10 August and had an absolutely amazing time. Our friend (based in Nairobi) arranged our accommodation and promised us this would be by far the best place to experience our first real safari, he was not wrong. It exceeded our expectations! Here are a few of my favourite photos taken, hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed our stay with you." Many thanks to Ina for sharing these with us, we have loved looking at these, they really capture the essence of a Little Governors Camp Safari.

The Mara really is a photographers dream
We have received these fabulous photos from recent guest Craig Wiltshire. Craig wrote to us to say "thank you for a wonderful 5 nights. This was my third stay in the Masai Mara and I'd always wanted to visit Governor's Camp, I wasn't disappointed. This is THE place to stay in the Masai Mara ..... I can't wait to return someday in the future. The accommodation, foods, camp facilities and safari guides were all first class.
As a keen photographer I was overwhelmed with the opportunities to take great photos. I saw everything that I'd hoped, including a Black Rhino and Leopard ...... amazing. I'm telling all my friends that they have to visit your amazing camp if they go to Africa. Thanks for the holiday of a lifetime.
I'll be back.
Many thanks to Craig for sharing his photos with us.

Re: Goveners Camp Masai Mara
ON my recent trip I came across one of the Musketeers in a confrontation with a Paradise Pride female and also on a separate occasion a Musketeer and a female, not sure if it was a Marsh Pride or Paradise Pride, in a compromising position!! I will be doing stories and photos on my Safari post.It would seem that the Marsh Pride and particularly the Musketeers are trying to take over Paradise Plain and force the Paradise Pride back across the river into the Mara Triangle.

The morning that we went to the Marsh of the four males we only found Sikio - apparently at least two of the other boys were on the Paradise Plains so that could be right . . . . . .

Helping a Lion with a Very Sore Paw - Updated on Thursday 9th January 2014
Yesterday morning the Dave Richards the manager of Governors Camp received a call from Moses (Head Driver) telling him that the Marsh pride had killed 3 cows and that one of the lions had been speared. Obviously there had been an incident sometime during the night. Dave drove to the area to check out how badly injured the lion was. The injured lions was a young lioness about 12 months old. Dave contacted the local rangers to organize a vet. Apart from the lions there was over 50 Hyena in the area. The Hyenas were fighting among themselves, I guess there must have been 2 Hyena clans involved. Some of the Hyena were showing a distinct interest in the injured lioness. Because of this Dave asked Moses to organize a vehicle to come to the area and guard the lioness until a vet arrived.
When the Vet arrived Dave led them to where the injured lioness was. She was successfully darted the spear removed and the injury treated and she was given a strong antibiotic. The entry and exit wounds were stitched.
As well as the vet, Dominic, who always does a great job, there was also a KWS ranger who helped with the operation plus a lady who works for David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. Bosky flew the party to the Mara and Governors' provided the local support.
Reports this morning say the lioness is limping but that is to be expected.
