Daily River Crossings

Updated 14 hours ago · Taken at Governors Camp

With the wildebeest migration in full swing in the Masai Mara our guests are seeing daily river crossings with thousands of zebra and wildebeest taking the plunge and running the gauntlet of hungry crocdiles to get to the other side. We have also had amazing daily leopard sightings and the Marsh Pride of lion are busy filling their bellies with wildebeest and zebra. Thousands of wildebeest and zebra cover the plains around our camps. Photos are courtesy of Moses Manduku, Governors Camp senior driver-guide

I Agree Lai - totally alien of anyone who is in the Mara and we're not !!! Laughing

A Huge Wildebeest Crossing

Yesterday morning started with cool morning and a great sunrise, the Marsh pride with all 10 cubs, Morani, Scar & 4 lionesses were at the airstrip, they had killed and eaten three gnus! Many wildebeest had come through the night before and the plains were covered with hundreds of thousands of animals. Two river crossings were seen late morning with an estimated 30- 40, 000 wildebeest crossing the Mara River. 5 Gnus were taken by crocodile and many died while trying to scramble out onto the bank the other side, such a waste of life. It was lovely to see a dark chanting Goshawk on Paradise Plains and also a Lappet Faced Vulture high on top of a Gardenia tree, the vulture was using an old secretary birds nest. WOW There really is some action going on out there. It must be absolutely amazing to see that many migrating animals all at the same time. Sadly the Crocs seem to be getting their fill, and the Lions, and other predators are reaping the benifits, but thats life in the Mara, and it's good to know the Marsh Pride are doing so well.

River Crossings and Lion Cubs

Updated 41 minutes ago · Taken at Governors Il Moran CampIts been a busy weekend in the Masai Mara, with lots of wildebeest crossing the Mara River, and some new arrivals for the Marsh Pride, lioness Jicho has 3 tiny cubs which she has brought out of hiding. Last week she had a fight with a leopad who got too close to the cubs, she still bears the mark from this fight on her neck. Meanwhile Little Governors enjoyed visits from Elephants and wildebeest
