Re: Goveners Camp Masai Mara
Thanks Doogs to great updates Morani, and Scar really do look good mates dont they. Lovely to see the Marsh Pride doing so well after all the turmoil of the take over. Also great to see Malaika, and her cub. Fantastic the she's brought him up, to being so close to independance

Marsh Pride Buffalo Kill
2 nights ago the Marsh Pride killed a buffalo just inside the reserve. When we found them it was in a small lugga with the cubs climbing all over it. Siena, Bibi and Charm were not to far away but left the cubs to feed. Looking at how muddy they were they had already fed. Scar Face we found walking away to the Marsh, he was the only male there.

Re: Goveners Camp Masai Mara
As you can see I have been slacking on this thread - didn't realise I'd missed so much this past week Thought I'd put up all the links though as there are some really good shots and wonderful to see the vets taking care of Scar, that eye of his has been bad for a long time

Re: Goveners Camp Masai Mara
Those Cubs are really covered. Just shows they are feeding well when the females, and Scar leave them to eat on their own. Quiet agree the Vets seem to have done a good job with Scars eye

Re: Goveners Camp Masai Mara
and for all those updates Doogs. Best news I thought was Scar being treated by KWS vet, I know people say we shouldn't interfere but these lions are very precious and need all the help and treatment available.

Re: Goveners Camp Masai Mara
Lai, why leave a sick or injured animal alone when a quick bit if intervention from a qualified vet with antibiotics etc could help its survival. The fact as well that lions numbers are dramatically on the decrease, every single one of them is precious and deserves a little bit of help now and again

Marsh Pride Update
Taken at Governor's Camp Masai MaraPlenty of Marsh Pride sightings in the last few days. The females and cubs have been near where they killed a buffalo a few days ago, with Scar. While the other 3 males have been beyond Bila Shaka.

Scar and Sikio
Yesterday morning near the Musiara gate were Charm, Siena, Musiara and 10 cubs. On the rocky hill about 1 km in the conservancy were Sikio with a young lioness, Hunter, Bibi and two other younger breakaways. Scar was seen walking from the Marsh pride at Musiara gate towards Hunter and Sikio, his eye looks much better and we hope it stays this way.

3 Leopards on One Game Drive
A fantastic mornings game drive from Governors Private Camp where we saw 3 different leopard in one morning. A great sighting as we watched one leopard spot a warthog going into a warthog hole, the leopard came down from his tree where he had stored his kill, strolled past our car and investigate a warthog hole, the warthog charged out of the hole almost colliding with the leopard! The leopard then moved to a nearby water-filled lugga where we watched amazed as he fed on fresh water crabs. This is a very exciting sighting as we have never seen leopard feeding on fresh water crabs before. After a picnic breakfast overlooking the banks of the Mara River we then were treated to sightings of 2 more leopards! Photos are courtesy of Dave Richards

Smashing photos of Malaika and her Cub, at thirteen months it wont belong before the Cubs independant, and hopefully another addition to the Cheetah numbers of the Mara. Thanks for the nudge Doogs

Re: Goveners Camp Masai Mara
It was such a shame she lost one of her cubs but maybe that helped her focus on Bawa more, it's wonderful that he's got this far and I agree WS, won't be long until he's independent and making little cheetah's of his own

The wildebeest migration has arived in the Masai Mara, the plains are covered with wildebeest and zebra and there were some dramatic scenes over the weekend as zebra took the plunge into the Mara River and ran the gauntlet of hungry crocodiles.

Re: Goveners Camp Masai Mara
Thanks Doogs lovely to see the crossing, mind you I would'nt have passed the Bar if I was them Great that the migration seems in full force, but always tinged with a bit of sadness at the Crocs getting some, but like all wildlife they have to eat, and survive
