The Illusive Serval Cat
More photos from yesterday morning, when we were lucky enough to see this beautiful Serval Cat. While they're normally very shy, this one took no notice of us, and actually walked under our car at one point.

Sleeping Lions - These two Musketeers walked in front of our car today as we came out of Private camp. They looked like they'd just eaten, and were in a very lazy mood

After 3 months in the Mara I finally found my first Leopard on Thursday. There was a mother and a cub in a little clearing, just before dark. As we arrived out of the bushes came two Hyena, clearly after the cub. As soon as they tried to chase it though, it ran up a tree while the mother stood at the bottom protecting it. The Hyena quickly gave up and left as we watched the cub make a mess of climbing down, and eventually fall in to a bush.https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.593227767356115.1073741852.127029937309236&type=1

Re: Goveners Camp Masai Mara
3 Months just shows how elusive Leopards can be. If they do'nt want to be seen, you wont see them. You can tell from the look on the Leopards face she was ready to stand up to the Hyena's

The Boys are Back: This morning I was called out to the airstrip to see the four brothers on a buffalo kill, remember two days ago they were near Kichwa Tembo airstrip. I understand they crossed last night and in the early hours this morning Killed a cow Buffalo close to the Musiara airstrip. When I got there at 10.30am they were all under the 206, Scar then moved to the right wheel and promptly started to chew the hydraulic hose to the brakes. I called the workshop and they sent a vehicle out to monitor. Re: Goveners Camp Masai Mara
Thanks Doogs some great photos of the Marsh Pride. Love the Cheetah shots, from the news out of the Mara it sems to me that the numbers seemed to have increased this year, against last year when a lot of people seemed concerned at the lack of numbers

Scar Receives Treatment for his Eye Wound
The Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) Vet arrived to treat Scar's eye wound Governors Camp team assisted the KWS vetinary team. At 08.30am our guides located Scar, the KWS vetinary team darted him and treated his eye wound, after which the antidote was administered and he got up and moved off. This morning he looks to be fine. Hunter and Morani moved off and Sikio was busy protecting the buffalo kill. Photos are courtesy of Patrick Reynolds, Governors Il Moran Camp Manager.

Giraffe, Lions and Lilac Breasted Roller
Marsh Pride was seen yesterday on a zebra kill, Scar seems to be doing ok following his treatment. The lions sent a troop of Olive Baboons scampering up to the very top of a tree for safety. Latest photos from Masai Mara courtesy of Patrick Reynolds Il Moran Camp Manager

The Marsh Pride
The Marsh pride were seen this morning near the northern area of the Marsh. They all looked well fed. The four breakaway Lionesses were seen close by and they then went and rested up in the croton thickets near the Windmill. Sikio was with one of the Lionesses and Musiara was with the Bibi and Siena, she was not in the picture. Scar and Morani look so happy together perhaps it was a good evening!! Malaika and her Cub
I was lucky enough on my first safari back at Governors' to find Malaika and her cub over Rhino Ridge. The cub is the same size as her and it looks like he might become independant soon. They started crouching and preparing to hunt, but they were spotted by some Topi & Gazelles so stopped, and went back to sleeping.

Hunting Practice
We found these females with the older set of cubs learning to hunt, just before sunset last night. We spotted one lioness lying flat on the ground, and realised that the group was laid out in a circle, having set an ambush for a warthog. Eventually one of the cubs broke the circle and chased the warthog, but was unable to catch it.

All in an Afternoon
A few sights that we were lucky enough to see after we saw the Marsh Pride yesterday. A small crocodile in a lugga, a heavily pregnant cheetah on her own just outside Musiara Gate, and a very young giraffe. We also came across a herd of 40-50 elephants. At this time of the year the smaller herds start to join together for the mating season.
