Mrs S's, Lai's & Littlewid's Pea Off
Just for fun I thought Mrs S and I could have a Sweet Pea Off.......i'm sure Mrs S will do better than me as she and WS have the midas touch with plants but for a little fun and enjoyment I thought we could compare the growing and flowering of our Sweet Peas, it will be fun to see them growing and coming into flower and seeing what flowers we both get, it will also be nice to see what insects get attracted to them, they are supposed to be good for Bees.
Mrs S....... are you on for the Sweet Pea Off
Here are mine.......looking a bit yellow but growing and climbing

Great idea LW. Mrs S says
This is Mrs S's sweet pea pic from the Lets Talk post
This is nothing to do with me, I'm only the labourer Mrs S is the one with green fingers.
Contest rules one Pic per week, and may the best Pea win Guys

THE PEA OFF IS ON
I accept the contest rules of one pic per week
This is going to be fun. I have one plant in my pot, it started life as some seeds in a tiny pot grown on my neighbours mums farm, I put the little plant in this grower, so I think so far it's doing ok........but I am now going to really try and get my green fingers working.........I have a feeling Mrs S isn't going to take this challenge lightly......she's a true gardener so I reckon her gloves are off
Next picture on Wednesday then WS

Re: Mrs S's, Lai's & Littlewid's Pea Off
OK Mrs S.....it's Pea Off Comparison Day Mine have taken a real battering with the wind and rain since the first picture but........I am very pleased with how they have recovered they have been watered, magic fed, spoken too and they aren't letting me down, oh they are still sprouting upwards, so I am chuffed with my little "Peas" they are doing me proud
Here they are this week looking quite Dandy I think.
Over to you Mrs S
Oh yes Lai, We think you may be growing some Sweet Peas so if you want to join in the "Pea Off" you are more than welcome......it's just a little bit off fun.

Nice ones Mrs S they are doing well but remember I don't have a WS to protect them from the wind and rain so mine are being brought up the tough way
Loving the colour of yours, they are greener than mine which seem quite pale in comparision, wonder if that will make a difference with the colour of flowers we both get
Look forward to next Wednesdays pictures

What you two feeding your PEAS, they are ginormous already mine have grown and I thought they were doing well but compared to your two's mine are diddy ......but I am not telling them that.....don't want them getting a complex .......mind you.....I do have signs of flowers
Great PEAS though Mrs S & Lai by the way, I have changed the title of the thread to Mrs S's, Lai's & Littlewids Pea Off
Here are my PEAS......the mini version
I took this one before I removed the rogue weed

Re: Mrs S's, Lai's & Littlewid's Pea Off
Yours may be small but they are perfectly formed Littlewid. Mine are leggy and lanky and nibbled but we love them! I've already decided next year to have a nice display rather than a functional one
ps thanks for changing the name to include me
I am keeping an eye out for the first flower, but as it's now torrential rain I am not going out tonight

Re: Mrs S's, Lai's & Littlewid's Pea Off
Mine hasn't flowered yet but it has the beginnings of a flower growing, I was so excited when I saw it because like yours and Mrs S's they have taken rather a bashing with the weather and I wasn't sure if they would really pick up but I was amazed this evening.
I thought your Peas looked really good and they do grow long don't they. I think thats half the fun of this thread seeing how differently they grow and also what flowers we will all get.
Glad you think mine look perfectly formed........made me
No probs with changing the title to include your Peas, the three of us are in it together

Re: Mrs S's, Lai's & Littlewid's Pea Off
I'm going to get a close up photo of the potential flower tomorrow just to see where we're up to, I always think everything in the south is a good couple of weeks ahead of us so it will be interesting to compare.

I will take one of mine too Lai, it will be fun to compare them I suppose the South is a little warmer than Cheshire.....probably didnt feel like it today though, it has been rather chilly.
Hopefully tomorrow it will be sunny and I will get a good pic, its only on my phone though as I still cant find my camera
Look forward to seeing your growing flower

Re: Mrs S's, Lai's & Littlewid's Pea Off
Excellent! I love sweet pea. We used to have wild sweet pea through the hedge when I was a child and the scent was wonderful.
Cant wait to see them all in full bloom.

Re: Mrs S's, Lai's & Littlewid's Pea Off
lovely Lai, your PEAS will soon be blooming I am now a little cos I realised mine are not buds, they are lots of new leaves that looked like buds......well to me they did so it looks as if the PEAS in Cheshire are beating the PEAS in the South I have given mine a friendly talking too this evening so fingers crossed soon I will have buds and can redeem my stupidity

Re: Mrs S's, Lai's & Littlewid's Pea Off
Littlewid, buds and leaf buds are confusing so don't be I bet yours will take off soon and be racing ahead. We probably put loads of leaf mulch on the ground first or something.
I am going to check them everyday now for the first flower

Re: Mrs S's, Lai's & Littlewid's Pea Off
Maybe thats the answer.....Leaf Mulch I will give mine another feed tomorrow and maybe that will perk them along a bit.
As you have REAL BUDS ( not like my imaginary ones) I reckon we should have a little guess as to the first colour of the flower, I think it will be a pinky coloured one........whats your guesses Lai and Mrs S :What:

Re: Mrs S's, Lai's & Littlewid's Pea Off
Looks like the Pes in Cheshire are ahead of the North as well in, Wales anyway. Temps are always a bit cooler up in them there hills its amazing the difference in growing times here, to where we lived before down on the Coast even though, driving wise its only 10mins away. Our were planted in some compost that we have collected in a container over the last couple of years, and then topped up with garden center compost. We are going to give ours a tomato feed, thats supposed to be one of the best feeds for not only tomato's but flowers as well. Mrs S says pink is a good call LW, but she's going for Lilac.
