Thanks for that WS. Most things seem fairly settled from that report but worrying they haven't found Romeo and Clawed. Hopefully they are alright but it's one of things that you can't really settle until you know.

Looks like Joy does not want to have anything to do with these new males. Is it because she is protecting the little ones ? Will she stay with them until they are old enough to fend for themseles which of course will be quite a few months down the line ? Hunting will become more difficult once all the wildies & zebra have gone, will she manage on her own ? Once the littles ones are old enough to fend for themselves will she be welcomed back into the Pride after so long ? Lots and lots of questions !!!

It does seem as though the females are trying to keep the peace with these new males.
I hope the sightings of Romeo and Clawed get confirmed, it will be nice to get some news of them.

Returned from Mara about a month ago, saw Romeo in all his magnificent beauty and is very upset to hear that he is in trouble. Does anyone know if something could be done to help him just a bit to get back onto his feet? Is there any way to donate, so a bit of food can be provided for him? I know that most people feel that nature should take its course, but I do believe that small adjustments to this course would not hurt anyone. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

We know how you feel. The Rangers have helped out a bit with some food for both Romeo, and Clawed, but they are not really supposed to as it's intervention. If you look back through the posts on this thread you will see what they have done to try to help

I hope those new little cubs will be ok then as they obviously are not from the new males. They must be from Romeo or Clawed, unless i've got that wrong.
Bibi is certainly keeping those new males at bay for the time being.
Sad there is no news about Romeo or Clawed.

I'm with you loveromeo, I wished it was as simple as paying for food to feed Romeo and Clawed but sadly I don't believe that is going to happen as it's not the way of the wild but my personal thoughts are they have done so much for the people of Kenya that they do deserve to be treated with kindness.

Latest news from the Mara and the Marsh Pride

White eye with other family members of marsh pride totalling 13 were seen at Bilashaka resting together. Bibi was seen 50 metres from them but she has some small injuries which she got from them, she has been spending a lot of time apart from the rest of the pride with the four males and this seems to have antagonized them. The four new males into the marsh were seen moving out of Bilashaka and towards the musiara airstrip. The other lioness who gave birth recently was last seen on Saturday with three other sub adult cubs, she had hidden her newborn cubs in the reeds of the Marsh. We received torrential rain over the weekend and did not see her all of Sunday, we hope she has managed to move the cubs to drier ground as the Marsh flooded with all the rain.

The two cheetah brothers were hunting a young wildebeest up on Paradise Plains, they made the kill but then had this stolen from them by a pack of hungry hyenas.

Topi and Hartebeest continue to calve on the high plains and we have seen some large river crossings with 5000 zebra and 1000 wildebeest crossing the Mara River, one young zebra foal was sadly taken by a crocodile

Poor Bibi being attacked by the rest of the family. Your not sure if she has seperated herself from them or if she is still trying to keep the peace. It would be a shame if they don't accept her back.
Lets hope the new little cubs have been moved to drier ground and are all safe and well.
Shame there is no further news on Romeo and Clawed. I am still hoping they are both ok.

These males have definitely split the Marsh Pride for the time being Crying or Very sad

Poor Bibi getting a hard time from other members of the Pride Crying or Very sad

I hope she is ok.

Fingers crossed the little ones are safe and sound.

Thats a shame for Bibi, as she seemed to be trying to keep the new Males interested, and away from Joy, and the rest of the Pride, but I suppose we dont know what goes inthe relationships, between Pride members when something like this happens. Hope the Cubs are safe somewhere, and we get some news of Clawed, and Romeo soon

Update from Governors FB page today.

Marsh Pride Update: White eye and Bibi were seen near musiara gate with ten other members of the marsh pride family trying to hunt warthog piglets.We still dont know if the newborn cubs have survived the flooding in the Marsh as we have not seen them since. Three of the new males were also seen hunting warthogs, two males succeeded killing two piglets after a long distance run. Wow! They can run! Joy was seen with her 4 cubs plus the adopted one half a kilometre from double crossing. There were also two of her old young males with her. Still no sign of Romeo and Clawed. Migration News: About 1000 Zebras and a few wildebeest crossed Mara River into paradise plains.

Thanks for that LP, worrying news that there's still no sign of Clawed or Romeo, and lets hope the Cubs turn up. Tose Males have got to be quick if they can catch Warthog Piglets

Thanks for the updates Lai and WS. Good news the cubs have been seen but still worried about Romeo and Clawed. They must have either moved right out of the area, are laying very low at the moment or the worst has happened to them both, I really hopes it's not the last one.
