Zawadi (aka Shadow)

Sad to hear the definitive end of Zawadi but it is what everyone was anticipating. She had a good long life and hopefully her progeny will continue her line. As posted above the leopard I came across last Dec. while staying in the Mara North Conservancy turned out to be Nelangu, one of Zawadi's daughters and I also saw her again on my last visit in Nov. I am also wondering if the young male Leopard I also saw on the same trip could be the male you mentioned who has taken over Zawadi's territory as on the 2 occasions we saw him, he was close to Leopard Gorge which was Zawadi's old hunting ground. If so them he could be Zawadi's son!!! When I return to Mara North in Feb. I will try and find out. When talking to the Conservancy warden he told me they were hoping to be able to name all the leopards in the area in the New Year and hopefully that will make for easier recognition.

That would be good Safariman, I am out of touch with all our big cats so some names would be a good idea.
