No updates yet on Zawadi but I saw this and found it quite interesting. It is old footage but I hadn't seen it before. With her having a cub I thought it might fit in here.The little male is something else!

Ronnie that was one fiesty male cub, even at that age you could see that if it grew to maturity, which I hope it did, it was going to ne a very dominant male

According to Jonathan on his FB Page Zawadi's little one has been called Malaika (meaning Angel in Swahili) I love you

Hey everybody,

I know this is not why the name sounds familiar to you over there but Malaika is one of the lionesses names in African Cats. Seems all of the sudden the blogs have dried up on info and pics of Zawadi and Malaika. At least I haven't been able to find anything new in the last few days.

Thanks for that Ronnie. I've not seen anything on Zawadi either, I think Jonathan said she had moved from Leopard Gorge so that could be why.

Jonethan did say that Zawadi had left the Gorge, but had left Malaika behind to go hunting, they waited for her to return, so they could watch the inevitable move, but did'nt see anything. So it looks like Zawadi may have moved Malaika out later I know Leopards change their dens from time to time

Hi Milly - yes, the herdsman is fine! Also the action of the Mara North Conservancy rangers saved the day as people from nearby Mara Rianta village heard very quickly about the attack and were intent on exacting revenge - the rangers made sure Zawadi fled from her perch in a tree and took off. And they then explained as best they could to the villagers that Z had a cub (or maybe both cubs at that time) and the livestock and herdsman pressing down to the lugga (intermittent water course) no doubt made her feel very compromised/threatened - and as any mother would know there is nothing as brave or determined than mother fearing for the life of her offspring.

Thanks for asking the question Ronnie - now we have more information on what happened.
