Loving them all!
I cant stop watching the video clip of the little ones copying mum preening, so cute with the touche wiggle
Great Family 1 have reappeared and with all 6 safe and sound.
Your photos AM are absolutely wonderful, and can I say thank you from all of us for your hard work keeping us updated.

Re: Swan watch - From Stanwick Lakes
I'm so glad you are all enjoying seeing the photos! And it really isn't a problem at all! I'm loving being able to keep up to date with these two gorgeous families.
Lai, I think that is one of my faves too. Their little webbed feet look so funny!!
Glad I got the video clip of the little ones preening. I'd worried I'd missed the falling over bit and the shake at the end so was very relieved when I realised I had captured it.

Re: Swan watch - From Stanwick Lakes
Due to me being very busy over the last couple of weeks, I've been neglecting swan watch! However, I am now back. The bosses are out and I can do an update.
These pictures are from 7th July:

Re: Swan watch - From Stanwick Lakes
I've got some more pictures and video clips to upload. However some sad news! Family 3 are down to one baby. This would have happened at some point over the weekend the parents were very nervy last night so I chose to stay well back.

Anne-Marie that is so very sad and not the news we wanted to hear. We know it is hard for little hatchlings to survive but they all seemed to be doing so well, but there are four legged predators out there or was it a winged predator, whatever, its just horrible for the parents and the cygnets. I look forward to the pics and video but remain sad for the swans loss

Re: Swan watch - From Stanwick Lakes
That really is bad news AM, they are so vunerable out there with all the different predators around. We really worry about our Ducklings, although at least they have some protection, at night they go into there own compound, every morning, and night we get up we count them straight away. Lets keep our fingers X the last one makes it

It is so sad! I don't like to think about it too much because it must be so distressing for them!!
Anyway, photo's from a happier day. 23rd July

****************The Return of Family One****************
Well at least I think it is I saw them on Friday but was without a camera, 5 babies instead of 6 which is making me doubt a little, but yesterday they were all sleeping on the little island where the nest was.
2 babies and a coot (sorry, no idea on spelling)

Re: Swan watch - From Stanwick Lakes
Thank you for the lovely photos Anne-Marie, its always so nice to catch up with the swan families.
He did look in a bad way didn't he. I am hoping he is just moulting and tired, for some birds it can be painful when their feathers come through, well I know it can for Budgies, not sure about swans, but he looked as if he was having trouble getting up, I hope he is ok and not suffering in any way.
