Re: Swan watch - From Stanwick Lakes
They just grow on you more each day dont they. What is so wonderful about them is they have such gentle looking faces dont they, even the mum and dad, there really is something serene about them.
The cygnets in the grass are so lovely Anne-Marie and mum and dad just look so proud all the time.
Thank you for posting them even though you've been really busy Anne-Marie.

beautiful pics again ann-maire
the cygnets and growing bigger by the day
so sad to hear that they had lost a baby but they still have 2 left
hopefully they will grow up to be just like their parents

Some really great pics again AM, it's sad about the missing cygnet, but thay are so vunerable not only to predators like Foxs but also other birds, and other Swans who feel they are to close to their family or in their territory as was seen on Springwatch with Simon.

So sad losing a cygnet AM. Lets hope the remaining 2 make it to maturity.
Stunning photos again!
With so many fab photos across the forum we should run a WAA Photographer of the Month or something.

Thank you for the comments regarding the photos
And SM, what a brilliant idea!!
Once again a very brief update as I am inundated again today! Photo's for you of family 3! As soon as they saw us, they headed into the water (led by one of the cygnets) to come over for food! The car park is currently closed while they carry out repairs to the bridge so they obviously aren't getting as many treats during the day.

Group shot
I think their beaks are getting longer! Their necks certainly are

Oh of course, without a doubt! I'm going to be up there Saturday morning seeing if family 1 are about! Sunday might be harder but I shall do my best.
SM, have you managed to go lately? It seems even more beautiful up there at the moment with this gorgeous weather. Its been lovely and quiet this week to with the car park shut!

Re: Swan watch - From Stanwick Lakes
Morning all!! just sat in the car while chris is in a DIY shop and I thought I'd give you a quick report. Have finally seen family 1 again after a week and they still have 6 babies. I was so excited. They were over the far side of the lake and actually swam over to me. I like to think they were showing me how much their babies have grown. They swam off as soon as I left. Got some nice piccies of them.
Fed family 3 yesterday. They are so beautiful. Again some cute photos that I'll have to post on Monday. I'll try and get up there again tomorrow.

Ok, so it appears I took 134 photos over the weekend of our two swan families. They are still uploading to photobucket. As soon as they are done I will post a select few on here you're all more than welcome to look through the rest of the album on photobucket.

Re: Swan watch - From Stanwick Lakes
Anyway, off I wandered to see if I could see family 1. I hadn't seen them since the morning of 27th June. Anyway it appears they are morning swans I spyed them in the distance taking a few snaps, not thinking they would actually come over to me!! These are very hissy swans!! And rightly so, they have managed to keep all 6 babies alive!!

Re: Swan watch - From Stanwick Lakes
You've done us proud there Anne-Marie. What a great selection of photos and video clips. Absolutely FAB-U-LOUS and i think my all time favourite is the one when you are looking down on the cygnet and can see its webbed feet, it looks so funny.
They are all so beautiful to look at and it's wonderful that the hissy family still have all 6 cygnets.
Thanks so much for posting.
