Re: Swan watch - From Stanwick Lakes
I actually get excited now when I see you have added to the thread AM!!!
Hopefully Family 2 are OK.
I love them all. The parents look stunning and not the worst for wear looking after their broods at all.

Re: Swan watch - From Stanwick Lakes
Hehe, I did have to have a chuckle LW.
24th June:
Family 1 - 6 babies
Family 3 - 3 babies
Family 1 seemed to have moved well away from people. I imagine they got a lot of attention over the weekend which spooked them. I think some people aren't as understanding of animals and get far to close. Only managed a couple of photo's and then they were taken facing bright sunlight.

Sad nothing on Family 2. I wonder if they are gone for good.
The other families seem to be doing OK and the photos are fab.

The photos are brilliant, I adore the head shot of the adult with the baby, its stunning Anne-Marie. The water ones look like they are swimming through ice, the water is so sparkly. Hope family two are all ok and just keeping out of the publics way.
Glad I made you laugh Anne-Marie, I laugh at my own dumness too

Glad you liked that photo LW. I spent ages trying to get them both in a shot and I was so pleased when I saw how that had come out

Re: Swan watch - From Stanwick Lakes
I don't have any photo's from this weekend. As you may know I take Millie up there with me, and as I was going by myself I didn't have anyone to hold her while I took photo's. I can confirm we still have a full quota of Cygnets! They certainly are growing, and doing very well! They seemed to be practising their 'bottoms up' quite a lot.

No problem Anne-Marie, Millie needs walking and not a good idea to ask her to hold her own lead!!!!! Sounds like the Cygnets were having fun though and pleased they are still all together. Thanks for the update, good to know they are all ok.

Re: Swan watch - From Stanwick Lakes
Family 1 were no where to be seen, I was later up there though because of the heat. I'm sure they have their own little routine and they were off somewhere else.
Family 3! As cute as ever. You can see the cygnets are starting to grow and get longer necks :)
'Hmmm, do you have any food?'
Such a confident family!! Will really enjoy watching them grow and flourish! They will be the easiest ones to follow because they are tame!

Oh AM they are wonderful. They are so cute and cuddly only Im sure mum and dad would disagree.
Its a pity though they have become tame as that might put them in danger.
Fingers crossed they remain ok.

Gorgeous pics again Anne-Marie, I love the one of the three cygnets in a row. They just get more adorable each time we see them.

Re: Swan watch - From Stanwick Lakes
Sad news to report, family 3 have lost a cygnet! I was so sure now that they would be safe!
Family 1, no where to be seen!! I think I need to go up in the morning to capture shots of them now.
Anyway, snaps of family 3:
At this point I did move back! However I think he was just stretching his wings as he just carried on feeding.

Re: Swan watch - From Stanwick Lakes
that's so sad about family 3 losing a cygnet - what a shame, but they have done well keeping their family together for this long.
Lovely photos Anne-Marie - especially the one with him stretching his wings, what good timing :)

Re: Swan watch - From Stanwick Lakes
So sad Anne-Marie and we are so used to seeing all the cygnets it seems odd with only two of them, I feel for mum and dad, they have done a wonderful job so far.
Just loving the pic of dad having a stretch, a brilliant picture
It would be great if you could catch up with family 1 but I imagine its hard getting up there in the mornings with work and everything.
