Re: Decorah Eagles
Now I did have a minor heart attack when I started watching this as I could only see two chicks for a while but thankfully the other one popped it's little head up so they are all still there, phew

Re: Decorah Eagles
That must have been a hairy moment Doogs glad they were all there. I have just had a look and all three are being fed and they are sqwaking like mad, not sure if it is dad feeding at the moment, the eyes appear darker but it is tough to see as they are a little way off but the family appear fine.

It was great watching Dad feeding the little ones tonight. Mrs S said it's amazing how gentle Birds of this size can be when feeding them
All three got fed in turn

Re: Decorah Eagles
It's great that the birds are getting fed in turn, we've all seen so many times one or two are greedier than another with the worst outcome these parents certainly seem to know what they are doing which is great.
WS, they are incredibly gentle

Re: Decorah Eagles
Dads on the nest at the moment and all three eaglets are huddled together. Dad is taking the fur/feathers off of something so it's obviously tea time for the little ones.
As you say, it's great they are all being fed, at least we know they all stand a great vhance of surviving.
Heads up and time for tea
Now it's time for a sleep

Re: Decorah Eagles
Ok think this is mum on the nest today, it's incredibly windy there and the noise is deafening but you can see the chicks behind mum and when the wind stops for a second and stops ruffling her feathers, you can just see the eyes and they are paler round the edge, so I think it's mum.
Very windy in this pic and mums feathers are all ruffled
You can just make out the eye in this one
One chick is now lying down being sheltered by mum whilst the other one keeps braving the wind
it really is very windy there so I hope the chicks stay safe.

Re: Decorah Eagles
It does look windy on those pics LW, but it seems to have dropped quite a bit now, and all three are safe, and sound. Not sure if it's Mum or Dad on your pics, but Mums on the nest now, still feeding them

Re: Decorah Eagles
Thanks for all the piccys WS The chicks are definitely growing
Just checked the cam and it is still very windy. There is also a big shadow of a branch right across the nest so no good pictures just now Can't see the chicks as one of the parents is sitting on them.

Re: Decorah Eagles
Windy, and cold again for our Eaglets, their down is starting to change from natal down, and going darker to thermal down, which will allow them to thermoregulate which they can do at 21 Days old. D12 is now 2 weeks old, D13 13 Days, and D14 10 Days old. It's Mum on the nest at the moment

I sometimes hold my breath when I first look at the pictures as the chicks at times look as though they're not moving then they do and I heave a sigh of relief !! :)

Look how much these Guys have grown, although D15, the last one to hatch is half the size of the other two, it's still healthy, and in good shape. They are all flat out again digesting food

Re: Decorah Eagles
They seem to be growing every couple of days. D14 is catching up on the other two, and is now being more assertive in getting its share of food
Went for the Pop Out screen on these shots, it's sort of between full screen and the normal size. just a shame the rain drops on the lens spoil it a bit
Mum came in on the right to take over babysitting duties from Dad
