Re: Barn Owl Cam
I still find it hard to believe how such ugly "ducklings" can become one of our most handsome of birds.
Barn Owls were why I first became interested in wlidlife in the mid 1950's,one landed in our garden on the line post,I've been watching for them every night since I think.

Re: Barn Owl Cam
These ones are bundles of white fluff TB mind you their faces do look better when they are older but these three are making a right noise at the moment, they are obviously waiting for mum to come home.
How lucky are you to see Barn Owls every day, I would love one to come flying this way , I just adore them.

I think you miss understood,I look for them every day, even with reasonable numbers round here,I'm lucky to see them more than 8 or 10 times a year.

OOps sorry TB I missed a word there, i'm busying around with the cams and getting all excited, i'll put my glasses on next time I read....8 - 10 times a year is still more often than I would see them.

Re: Barn Owl Cam
I seem to remember last year on Springwatch they had Nightwatch with no commentary but sound and the cam was watching the barn owl chicks throughout the night. I tried watching for several nights but eventually gave in to they were unbelievably noisy, but it was fascinating to watch.
A lovely find - thanks Littlewid.

Here are the three little Barn Owl Chicks.
They are all huddled together so difficult to tell them apart but there are 3 of them.

Re: Barn Owl Cam
Another great find LW you have been busy today. Just had a look, and they are all huddled up again for the night, or waiting for food

Re: Barn Owl Cam
Here they are this morning they are all together but they have been foraging on the floor, presumably for food, haven't seen mum yet.
Sorry Lai missed your Spring watch post about last year, they are incredibly noisy, last night I found they would just stand there and screech, they are funny little things. I'm enjoying looking at these three.

Ive been checkin gfor mum on and off all day but not seen her yet, heres another one of one of the bullys

Re: Barn Owl Cam
Barn Owls do hunt in daylight when they have young to feed, but normally from now onwards till about 9.oo am,weather permitting. The adults will be roosting nearby so they can get some rest,if they were in the box the young would be hastling them for food all the time.

Re: Barn Owl Cam
Thanks TB, I was wondering why we hadn't seen mum, I was going to try and check out their feeding/hunting times so that info has really helped and put my mind at rest as to why the parents havent been seen yet today.

Re: Barn Owl Cam
No sign of mum this morning, the chicks are as noisy as ever, there does seem to be a bird answering their calls this morning, not sure if it's mum or another bird.

Re: Barn Owl Cam
Think I need to update the Windows Player to the latest version as after following the viewing instruction I still can not see it. Work are funny about downloading new software.
I will just look out for the pictures while in work and view at home of an evening.
