Re: Barn Owl Cam
Well at least there's still two, they dont seem to be spending much time in the box now, but there may be the chance of catching the parent coming in with food on this cam
The link for this Cam if anyone wants to use it is

Good to know two are still ok WS and as SM say's it's great they have the cam outside the box too, they look adorable sitting there and it will be nice to be able to see them fledge fully and also, hopefully, see mum bring in food to them.

Re: Barn Owl Cam
They really have changed haven't they WS, they are now growing up fast and you can really see the change in their feathers, it's good to see them doing really well. I've missed looking in on these guys the last few days so it's good to see them.

Re: Barn Owl Cam
This is what I've found out SM again something else we've all learned
At eight weeks old a typical fledgling Barn Owl has already learned to pounce but struggles to fly, at nine weeks it's flying fairly well, and by ten weeks it starts perfecting the art of landing, accurate pouncing, flying and hovering in various wind conditions. By eleven weeks many have made their first prey capture and some have already started to disperse. From 10 to 14 weeks the amount of food each one receives from the adults goes from an average of four small mammals per night down to zero. An owlet that continues to spend time around its parents (beyond c. 14 weeks old) may be chased away although lingering somewhere within the parental home range may be tolerated for longer as Barn Owls are not particularly territorial.
It's great to learn new things, and when people ask questions it makes us find the info.
Thanks for asking the question SM

Re: Barn Owl Cam
Looked in tonight and there is only one
Taken at the same time
Then whilst I was watching it flew up onto the top of the box
Then after a bit it flew over the rafters, and out of sight down the back of the building, so hopefully the other is also flying, and is out of sight to. Will have to keep checking, keep your fingers X Guys

Re: Barn Owl Cam
Just checked again, and there was one back on the beam then it took off just missed the shot So I dont think we need to panic yet they could both be still around. It's just seeing them at the same time to confirm it

Re: Barn Owl Cam
Thats a well deserved Boddys WS, after loosing little Tennis Ball we don't need to loose anymore, so pleased they are both still there, they are obviously just practicing all their flying skills and landing but I bet that was a tense moment watching for them both Oh yes, are they quieter now they are outside the nesting box or are they both still making alot of racket?

Re: Barn Owl Cam
At the moment they are rather noisy. I can see one at the entrance of the nest box but I can't get the barn cam WS to see them outside. How are you doing that?
